Indications of bed bugs
Many signs tell you whether or not you have a bed bug infection in your home.
As they’re tiny (5 – 6mm and can reach 10mm once full of blood), you’ve got to pay attention to details to make it sure it’s a bed bug you’re dealing with.
Here is some indication to help you find clues if they’re around :
- look for live or dead bed bugs and cast skins around your bed, on corners, electricity outputs and heat sources. If you find living ones, it means that the infestation is currently active.
- Blood spots, which is resulted by blood digestion and defecated by bed bugs. Look on your sheets, along mattress seams, corners for a small blacken grouped circles (average 5mm diameter).
- Eggs (1mm and cream colored). They are deposed on crevices in dark areas. You’ll likely find living bed bugs near them.
- In large scale infestation, you may notice a sickly sweet smell.
- Bites, that are only visible if your skin is allergic to the excrements of bed bugs.
Keep in mind you can’t only rely on bites to tell if bed bugs are around. You should find enough clues to confirm the infection and take action.
